Michelle ordered some books the other day and they just came through. One is Wainwright’s original and the other is one is by a guy called Hannon.

Michelle has now got so excited by all of this walking stuff that she was reluctant to even let me read one of them before she had a chance. Eventually I prised the Hannon book out of her hands. I kind of wish I hadn’t. It was looking OK until…

Stage 3 – 17.5 miles 4000ft ascent!

I best get on that stepper at the gym.  I did bring up the notion of dropping out but I’m in it for the long haul, either die on the walk or die by the hands of my over enthusiastic other half.

Seriously though, it looks like it’s going to be a lot of fun.  A lot of planning and a lot of effort but can you imagine what the beer is going to taste like in that final pub on the final day!  I can’t wait.

Rob has also seen this and has looked at other stages and is seriously considering banning me from even trying it. He does not think that I could cope with the exertion over the whole two weeks. What to do?

If I’m honest I do think this may be too much for me for a first attempt.

It does look scary at stages doesn’t it?! You could always just join us for a few sections (the nicest ones of course)…or do every other day and spend the rest days finding the best places for us all to have dinner! 🙂

Hey Tracey,

It’s all good whatever you decide to do. Get plenty of training walks in and you might surprise yourself.

I just don’t want to let you down and ruin things for you both. I was as excited at the challenge as you guys so I can’t do anything to spoil it.

You’ll not spoil it. We’ll just leave you on top of a hill!

Nah, seriously. If you want to do it then do it, don’t worry about us. We’ll stop at the end of the day and if you don’t want to do the next section then you can hop on the sherpa van and grab a lift. Then you can make us all dinner for when we arrive!

Just like chickens we are chickening out. I’m not well enough to do two weeks of walking. We made the decision after driving past the Cleveland Hills on Saturday – not a pleasant sight after nearly two weeks I’d say. We have got the walking bug and will go to Switzerland and do a week (max) there instead.

Sorry to mess you about. This wasn’t an easy decision to make.

That’s all good. Feel free to come and join us for a couple of stages though. We’ll be keeping this blog going so you can keep up to date where whe are and when.

Enjoy Switzerland and I’ll catch up with you next time I’m up in London.
